Overwhelmed and Exhausted
I know firsthand what it is like to feel overwhelmed and be in a constant state of exhaustion. I used to work over 50+ hours in a corporate job and often felt blessed if I could get 5 uninterrupted hours of sleep. Like many women, I assumed the heaviest workload at home, paying bills, going grocery shopping, making dinner, helping children, and the list goes on. My weekends (or lack of) were to catch up on what had let slip during the week. Though I worked as hard as possible, I often felt I was barely keeping my head above water.
My son suffers from severe ADHD, which added more challenges. Life with ADHD can get chaotic. It is hard to feel good about parenting or yourself when you are constantly dealing with emotional outbursts, arguments, behavioral challenges. When I recognized that I no longer had the energy or capacity to help my son or family, I had to make a change.
